I have always been interested in making spaces my own, adding personal touches and creating harmony, inspiration and beauty. From my childhood bedroom with constellations on the ceiling, to student housing where I could go crazy and paint huge murals (since the house was destined for demolition anyway).
My first own house has been no exception. I have found from experience that whether temporary or permanent, home is a place where you can express yourself, add beauty to your own little world, and be fearless in following your own rules for what fits, works, matches and provides joy.
Redecorating a home office can bring such enjoyment to your workday! No more boring backgrounds for videocalls but rather a visual statement of the unique qualities that you bring to the table (also an excellent icebreaker when meeting people online).
Depending on your preference, going wild with colours or choosing for a relaxing theme can be the way to go. As long as it reflects who you are and what you want to portray.
About: The mural decoration is inspired by my love of flowers and the colourful walls of the Casa Mila in Barcelona. It provides me with the inspiration and energy I need from my workspace.
Reminding yourself of your core values can add depth and meaning to your life. Whether that is family, adventure, growth, or simply the importance of beauty.
A mural on your bedroom wall can both be a daily reminder and provide the right atmosphere for a good night's sleep.
About: This South-up world map reminds me to look at the world in a different way. I also love adding a marker whenever I have visited a new country.
Small, personal touches can really help you to make a place your own. By adding some colour to a plain surface it can achieve harmony with the surrounding space and actually help to elevate the whole to a new level. Additionally, adding references to other interests such as reading, travel or favourite quotes and verses will serve as a nice welcome to others as they step into your space.
About: The staircase with my favourite books is the first thing people see when they step into the door, introducing them to who I am. But besides a large project like that, I love it whenever I can make something pretty just with a few small strokes.
There are many ways of being creative! Paint is not the only way to go, and trying out different materials can help add little details to all surfaces of your home. It also makes for great personalised gifts.
About: A mozaïk table top, engraved glasses, burnt-in charcuterie board and christmas cake with a food colouring painting are a few of the ways I elevate my living experience.
