Hi, I am Anna, reader, traveller, painter, based in the Netherlands.
For me, art and creativity is a way of life. From drawing and painting at an early age, my creative expression now extends into other projects and spaces whenever inspiration strikes me.
I love creative expression in all its forms, and thrive on all things beautiful, both big and little; From great outfits to golden sunlight hours and from far away places to decorating my home.
Discovering and embracing my artistic identity helps me to see beauty in life's ordinary and extraordinary moments. Colour, lighting and composition can be created through paint, but they can also be found wherever you look if you pay close attention. This may be an exotic place during a faraway adventure, or the tree blossoms around the corner of my house.
In my personal life I enjoy things for the aesthetic feels they give me, try to let go of perfectionism and control, look for everything on my #goodthings list, and find meaning in creating beauty for beauty's sake.
While my work often has universal themes, my personal creativity is rooted in my faith. I am inspired by the creative drive of God who made crystal caves so deep underground that they won't ever be seen: beauty for beauty's sake.
I mostly use aquarels, liquid acrylics and China Ink on aquarel paper for my water-based artworks. On canvas or other surfaces (walls, cloth, etc.) I use regular acrylic paint.
My work often uses mixed media techniques, including a combination of painting and paper-mache of torn up (painted) paper, and the use of various 3D elements such as modeling paste, shells, etc. The chosen materials, colours and techniques are often inspired by my Asian background.
For glass engraving I use a handgrinder tool and a wood burner for wood engraving.
